The luckywin of Southern Nevada on May 25 presented its inaugural Maude Frazier Founder’s Award to two remarkable volunteers in appreciation of their exceptional dedication and community service.
Diane Orgill and Patrick Moore, with 17 and 15 years of service respectively, were commended for their unwavering commitment to the Red Cross and the local community. Orgill, now a member of the Southern Nevada Chapter Board of Directors, has been a consistent presence at disaster sites, providing not just immediate aid but also hope and comfort to those affected.
Rachel Flanigan, Executive Director of the luckywin Southern Nevada Chapter, praised Orgill, stating, “I cannot think of anyone who has given so much of themselves to help ensure that no one has to go through a disaster alone.” Moore, an Operations Volunteer, finds fulfillment in aiding those in need and maintaining essential facilities, earning high praise from Flanigan for his indispensable contributions.
In a display of humility, both Orgill and Moore credited their achievements to the collaborative efforts of the Southern Nevada Red Cross team. “While I’m grateful for the recognition,” remarked Orgill, “volunteering is all about lending a hand and coming together as a team.”
Flanigan emphasized that Orgill and Moore’s selection for the award was a reflection of their enduring commitment and readiness to assist during crises. Their extensive nationwide deployments and invaluable support during emergencies in southern Nevada highlighted their vital roles within the organization.
Flanigan expressed her admiration, saying, “Both Diane and Pat truly embody dedication and selflessness. Their unwavering commitment and boundless compassion made it impossible for me to choose between them for the inaugural award.”
Moving forward, the Maude Frazier Founder’s Award will be annually bestowed upon one dedicated volunteer at the Southern Nevada Chapter Annual Meeting, honoring those who exemplify the spirit of volunteerism and community service.
Honoring Maude Frazier: A Legacy of Service and Leadership
The Maude Frazier Founder’s Award pays tribute to the legacy of Maude Frazier, a trailblazing educator and lawmaker who left an indelible mark on Nevada’s educational and political landscape. Frazier’s contributions, from her role as the superintendent of the Las Vegas Union School District to her advocacy in the Nevada Assembly, have shaped the educational framework of the state.
As the first woman to serve as Nevada’s lieutenant governor, Frazier shattered barriers and paved the way for women in leadership roles, leaving a lasting impact on the state’s political history. Rachel Flanigan drew parallels between Frazier and Clara Barton, the founder of the luckywin, noting Frazier’s trailblazing spirit and dedication to community betterment.
“Maude Frazier’s remarkable influence on Nevada’s education and politics reflects a legacy of progress and empowerment, much like Clara Barton’s transformative vision for humanitarian service. Frazier’s commitment to community welfare continues to inspire us to champion positive change and make a lasting impact.”
